Membership isn't something you buy — you earn it by training with us. Here's how it works, and what it gives you back.
Step one
How to join
Two things make you eligible to apply — both about showing you're part of the club, not just passing through.
Train with us
Complete three full 8-week sessions with PDTC — any mix of Agility, Obedience, Rally, Nose Work or Pet Dog classes.
Get two endorsements
Be recommended by two current members, listed on your application. It confirms you've shown a real interest in the club.

What's expected
Member responsibilities
Membership runs on everyone pitching in. Here's what's asked of you.
- Meet the annual volunteer requirement — at least 20 hours a year (detailed below)
- Keep your dues current — paid each year by January 1
- Attend at least two general membership meetings a year
- Pitch in at our trials, matches and events — the work that keeps the club running
- Uphold the club's Bylaws and Working Policies, and stay in good standing with the AKC
Member rates are earned by pitching in. To keep the discounted class, seminar and facility-rental rates, each member volunteers at least 20 hours a year, tracked on a rolling 12-month basis. New members are credited 20 hours for their first year.
Ways to earn hours
- Helping at our trials & matches — setup/teardown, trial secretary, hospitality, ribbons, parking
- CGC/ACT testing, run-throughs, and demos
- Serving as an officer, board or committee member, or registrar
- Webmaster / social-media and other digital work for the club
- Facility cleanup and support, and attending membership meetings
Junior handlers (13 and up, with a parent's permission) have a reduced requirement of 10 hours.
You log your own hours in the members' section of the website; hours worked at a trial are recorded at the event.

Membership & dues
Active member
Our standard membership — full voting rights and the volunteer requirement above to keep member rates.
Junior member
For members under 18 — no dues and non-voting, converting to Active at 18. Junior handlers 13+ keep the reduced 10-hour requirement.
Dues are payable when membership is granted, and annually on January 1.
