AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy
Companion Obedience track
Puppies 9 weeks to 6 months. Foundation manners, leash walking, sit and down, handling, impulse control, recalls, house-training, socialization, and behavior problem-solving. Includes AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy certification testing.

Obedience Beginner 1
Companion Obedience track
The first step for adult dogs, or the next step after puppy class. Introduces and reinforces sit, stay, down, wait, come, and loose-leash walking, plus problem-solving for common behaviors like jumping, pulling, and chewing.

Companion Obedience
Obedience Beginner 2
Builds on Beginner 1 with more difficulty and distraction. Adds proofing, behavior sequences, loose-leash walking, place, leave it, and continued problem-solving.
Intermediate 1
Develops sit, down, stay, wait, recalls, heel, and eye contact under greater distraction. Introduces and practices the skills needed for the AKC Canine Good Citizen.
Intermediate 2
A continuation of Intermediate 1 — more duration during stays with distractions, stronger waits before recalls, and higher-level obedience, including manners when a visitor touches the dog.
Advanced Intermediate
Adds more advanced obedience skills and hand signals to verbal commands, plus everyday manners that make dogs a pleasure to live with. Games and Trick Dog skills are woven in.
Competition Obedience
Foundation Skills
Introduces shared rally and obedience skills — pop-up stand, down in motion, finishes, backing in heel position, rally/obedience jumps, engagement games, and working connection.
Novice
Ring-prep for Beginner Novice and Novice obedience trials — the exercises and the rules for showing.
Open
Foundation skills for AKC Open and CDX prep, emphasizing dumbbell take/hold/carry, off-leash heeling, retrieving, the broad jump, and drop on recall.
Utility
Foundation skills for AKC Utility and UD/UDX prep, including hand signals, scent discrimination, and directed jumping.
Rally Novice & Advanced
Teaches AKC Rally Novice and Advanced signs, rules, handling tips, and short courses.
Rally Excellent & Masters
Teaches AKC Rally Excellent and Masters signs, rules, handling tips, and short courses for higher-level teams.
Specialty Obedience
Rally for Fun & Trick Dog
A non-competitive, rally-based class that uses rally signs to build obedience, engagement, front/rear-end awareness, and teamwork — plus AKC Trick Dog skills through luring, capturing, and shaping.
Therapy Dog Class
Advanced therapy-dog prep — working around medical equipment and mobility aids, polite greetings, professional public walking, and visits alongside other dogs.
Canine Continued Education
For teams who have finished Beginner 1 and 2 and want to keep training fun — obedience, rally, tricks, games, and foundation skills for future competition.
Agility
Intro to Agility
For dogs new to agility. Covers flatwork, targets, impulse control, body awareness, forward focus, low contact equipment, tunnels, weave poles, and age-appropriate jump training. The emphasis is on training rather than handling techniques.
Beginner I
Begins proficiency and independence on contact equipment. Expands flatwork into two- to four-obstacle sequences and introduces side changes, weave-pole drills, jump training, and selected handling techniques.
Beginner II
Continues Beginner I with emphasis on contact equipment, weave poles, jumping, and four- to six-obstacle sequences. Develops handling strategies and an understanding of front, blind, and rear crosses.
Pre-Novice
For teams finishing Beginner II who are ready to begin working toward competition. Covers full-height jumps, complete weave-pole sequences, contact-obstacle criteria, and six- to ten-obstacle sequences, plus course-reading fundamentals.

Agility Puppy Fundamentals
Introduces young dogs to agility through fun games, exercises, and low-height obstacles. Teams build confidence and explore tables, tunnels, planks, and the A-frame at an age-appropriate level.

Rally for Fun & Trick Dog

Nose Work
Your dog uses its nose to find a target scent. Low-stress, and all ages and abilities are welcome.
Intro to K9 Nose Work I
Introduces dog-and-handler teams to K9 Nose Work. Dogs learn to hunt through the box game using treats or toys while handlers learn to read body language. Dogs work individually and rest in crates between runs.
Intro to K9 Nose Work II
Continues box work and begins adding environmental search items — chairs, desks, tables, cabinets, and high and low hides. Exterior and vehicle searches are also introduced.
Intro to Exteriors & Vehicles
Introduces exterior and vehicle searches. Teams learn to search outdoors in natural areas and around vehicles, applying scent theory in practical settings.
Intro to Odor
Begins transferring the search drive from a primary food reward to odor, using essential oils such as birch, anise, and clove. Handlers refine leash handling and reward timing.
Advanced K9 Nose Work
For teams that have completed Nose Work I and II and Intro to Odor. Dogs search for odor alone across all four search elements, with a path for teams that want to compete.
Trial Ready Nose Work
For experienced teams across all four NACSW search elements preparing for or just past their first trial. Focuses on consistency under trial-like pressure — timed searches and blind hides.
Show Handling
Learn to present your dog in the conformation ring the way a judge expects. Open to all dogs 3 months and up.
Show Handling
Prepares dogs to be shown in the conformation ring at dog shows. Handlers and dogs learn how a dog is examined by a judge, gaited and stacked, along with ring procedure and general dog-show protocol.
Obedience
Precision heeling, stays, and recalls. The classic dog sport, and the base every other sport builds on.
